Published and and developed annually by Electronic Arts, the series begin in 1993, but the greatest gameplay was achieved with the later games.

 

2006 - FIFA 07

 

The first FIFA game to touch the XBox 360, it marked the refinement of the franchise. It stripped down the available teams and instead focused on the four European leagues as well as the Mexican Clausura and national teams. The atmosphere has also been dramatically improved with the crowd now reacting in a more human manner. They will react to the different events throughout the game, the crowd will be local to the region where the match is taking place and there will also be differing sizes of support, such as a small part of the crowd cheering away, while the rest is home.

 

FIFA 08

 

'Be a Pro Mode' has been improved since the previous games as it now allows the user to play a single player, rather than having the ability to swap between any of the team. Additionally, the multiplayer aspects of the game have been improved, such as allowing online cooperative play and interactive leagues between players. This means players can choose a league and team to play against a real opponent and also includes trick moves, a bonus over previous iterations of this mode. FIFA 08 also saw an overall decrease in speed throughout the game.

 

2008

 

While each FIFA game sees improvements per release of the game, FIFA 09 supposedly included 250 changes. While not exhaustive, here are some of the largest changes. The user's players now exhibit more responsiveness in many situations, such as when in control of the ball and when two players collide. The entire collision system has been thoroughly redesigned so that during the collision, the players' speed, weight and power will have an effect who comes out best in that particular confrontation. Furthering this responsiveness, the goalkeeper has also been improved to recover faster, position himself better and react more intelligently.

 

Following even this large assortment of changes, there are further improvements to the weather and time. While in Manager mode, there are no weather effects, but Kick-Off mode allows for rain and snow matches. Dependent on the stadium, matches can be played during the day, dusk or night.

 

FIFA 10

 

The latest in the franchise, FIFA 10 brings about many new additions to the Manager Mode that many players have welcomed. A new Assistant Manager can sort out your team for you while you focus on the the larger gameplay. Furthermore, sponsors are less important, while the club's board of directors are more so, due to their ability to dish out whatever wages they feel your team deserves. The Auto-Resolve option for matches now takes into account the team's overall strength, rather than randomly choosing a winner.

The Curse of the Madden Cover Appearance

Madden is one of the most look-forward-to releases on xbox and PS3 every year, and this year is no exception. The Madden football games took the nascent video game industry by storm, and haven't slowed down yet. It's right there for the annual NFL Draft, creating shots of players on their new teams almost instantly. The game has become so popular that tournaments where professionals play head-to-head for loads of money have made it onto television for our viewing pleasure. Millions of people take release day off work every year, and a Madden Holiday is as close as the game industry is likely to ever get to it's own national holiday.

 

You might also think that players are honored and delighted to be featured on the game's cover. Since Madden gave up the game's cover appearance starting with the 1999 installment for a different annual cover athlete, that player has suffered from poor play or injury, leading to the belief that there is a Madden NFL curse.

 

In the first week of the 2009 season, the Madden curse had already reared it's ugly head. Two players made their way onto the cover of Madden 10 for the first time ever. Both teams from SB 43 are acknowledged, with Troy Polomalu of the Steelers and Larry Fitzgerald of the Arizona Cardinals. In the Steelers' first regular season game, and Troy Polomalu's first after being put on the cover of Madden 10, he injured his ankle while blocking a field goal. Without their defensive captain, the Steelers struggled, ceding the AFC North division title to the Bengals.

 

You'd think that players and coaches would have learned about the Madden curse by now. When EA Sports comes calling, it's probably in everybody's best interest to decline the offer regardless of how prestigious and financially rewarding the opportunity might be. As history has shown, going on the Madden NFL cover is almost guaranteed to affect a player, and probably his team, negatively.

 

Notable instances of the Madden NFL curse:

 

2002: Daunte Culpepper, QB, followed up his 2000 NFC championship appearance by leading his team to a 5-11 season, and missed the final 5 games of the season with an injured knee following his fateful appearance on the cover of Madden 2002: he hsan't recovered yet.

 

2003: After being featired as the Madden 03 cover athlete, Rams' running back Marshall Faulk played the whole 2002 season with a naggin ankle problem, and didn't reach his full potential. He failed to rush for 1,000 yards for the first time in 6 years, and the Rams finished the season 7-9. missing the playoffs.

 

2004: For the third year straight, the cover athlete of Madden suffered injury. In 2003, it was QB Mike Vick, who missed the entire season due to preseason injury. Without him, the Falcons went 5-11.

 

2006: Donovan McNabb was honored with a Madden cover appearance after his team made it to the Super Bowl in 2004. The curse struck him next season, and the sports hernai he suffered early in the year caused him to sit out the last 7 games.

 

You might not be superstitious, but it's hard to deny the evidence.

Having these two on hand is nothing to scoff at, either.} Don't forget, they have quite a resume, between the two of them.} First there's "Clement, Clement, Hand of Cement," Bill Clement, revered NHL All-Star, and member of the ESPN family.} Then there's Thorne, Gary Thorne, ESPN stalwart, and Clement's partner-in-crime.} Hearing these guys call the game is a breathtaking experience.} Xbox NHL 10 is so genuine that you will be confident that the duo is hanging out in your quarters. On top of all the other upgrades and improvements, precision passing is one that will jazz gamers of all skill levels. In this game, the player has far supplementary force on the puck's general momentum, as opposed to the earlier episodes in the NHL video game series. If that wasn't enough, you have the ability to bank your passes off of the board, based on your aim and strength.} Xbox NHL 10, for the first juncture, allows you to battle on the boards - an extra step up that has the video game world enthused. You heard me - now, when you're in control of the puck but are pinned up against the boards, you employ the possibility to impede your enemy from taking the puck, by kick-passing it to a teammate.
